For my first post, I would like to explain a little background information before proceeding to the glorious and sometimes little known facts and events that occurred during this, our inaugural week together.
Though I am not new to blogging, it has been a long time since I updated my other blog which I used to update friends and family on my goings-on. This stemmed mostly from a lack of particularly exciting trials and tribulations in which to enthrall my occasional accidental reader on my whimsical transgressions that mysteriously and occasionally miraculously used to be so part and parcel of my life. But mostly it was because Facebook was way easier to use and nothing beats a good social networking stalking. However, there was still something lacking.
So why this blog and why now? Though my life has the occasional epic moments, I have the profound impression that it has become slightly duller in recent times. You all know that time in your life when you realize that most of your good adventures/keg stands/belly flops and general tomfoolery are clearly behind you, aside from the odd pending litigation. I still can’t go back to Florida. Not in this decade anyway. So to spice it up and inject a bit of verve in the everyday, I came upon the idea to write about real honest to goodness exciting things that have and sometimes are happening, mixed in with a bit of obnoxious and idiotic commentary from yours truly, giving some perspectives on past events and how bizarre they really were.
Another reason for starting this train wreck was that it seemed a good way to escape the ass pounding Shawshank style I call PhD research. As to the initial question, I have a slightly unbalanced and wholly heartedly unhealthy love of random and meaningless facts. I try to find the absurd or particularly bizarre events that have happened in this world of ours; at least the ones we know about. As one might tell from the name of the blog, fact checking isn't too high on my priority list, but everything in here is mostly true, so I hope that's good enough. If this isn't, then you may never use wikipedia again without feeling a sharp pain of guilt. In any case, I always loved the old adage "Fact is stranger than fiction", and with any luck I can convince you to the truth of this statement. So sit back and enjoy!
